Where’s the Olympic Spirit?
I confess, I’m a secret olympic fan. I usually look forward to the games, particularly the kayaking events. But Olympic Fever is definitely missing this time around.
The IOC claim the olympics is built on a charter that explains what the Olympics are all about and how the ‘Olympic Spirit’ has been established “… to build a peaceful and better world… which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.”
Hello IOC? China regularly tortures and incarcerates people whose only crime is to voice that they would like a different way of life. Is this ‘mutual understanding’ and ‘fair play’? It appears the host nation is exempt from the charter.
Shame.
